Pale Lilac, Hinotama, Replicant Doujinshi

Saturday, June 2nd, 2018

Hello everyone! I recently added a few vintage Sailor Moon doujinshi to the library from the 1990′s and early 2000′s. Katy was actually the one who made the request for this update, so you guys have her awesomeness to thank for it!

First up is a full volume doujinshi from Pale Lilac a.k.a. Ohmori Madoka. Many of us know her as Takeuchi Naoko’s production assistant during the time Sailor Moon the manga was being illustrated. So many of Pale Lilac’s work holds an extremely strong resemblance to Takeuchi Naoko’s drawing style. Pale Lilac’s works are very rare and are highly sought after by Sailor Moon collectors. "Moonish Girls" is a compilation doujinshi of Pale Lilac’s many works, so if you see it, I would recommend you grab it. It has a little of everything: Cute illustrations, smut, and lots of author’s notes. Its definitely a good one!

I also added a doujinshi from Tohru Mizushima, known under the alias of Replicant. Mizushima-san is probably one of the first super stars of the Sailor Moon doujinshi world. Her illustrations are super adorable and her works began circulating really early on, circa 1992 and 1993. The voice actor of Tsukino Kenji from the first series of the Sailor Moon anime, Machi Yuuji, also has a Mizushima Tohru listed as a spouse. No clue if its the same person though. (Hahahahhaa I’m starting rumors.)

Last but not least, I uploaded the illustrations from Ryutaro Hino’s CD-Rom doujinshi Silence for Rebirth. He is known by Sailor Moon fans as one of the best Tomoe Hotaru doujin artists in the world. The CD-rom was released in the early 2000′s, and it contained a few of his really awesome Hotaru illustrations, as well as the original source Photoshop file in the raw! I didn’t upload these Photoshop files because the file sizes are HUGE. But each PSD contained all the layers Ryutaro Hino used to create these beautiful illustrations. It was a beast and he is such a master at his craft.

Enjoy the doujinshi everyone!

Earth Wind by Pale Lilac

Yes! Finally sat my butt down and finished scanning the "Earth Wind" doujinshi series by the talented Pale Lilac. I just added in "Earth Wind 3" and "Earth Wind 4" to the Doujinshi Gallery, so its all there. One thing that I absolutely love about doujinshi from Pale Lilac (Ohmori Madoka), is that you get to see the improvement of her artwork. Ohmori Madoka, who was a production assistant for Takeuchi Naoko, published the first volume of "Earth Wind" in 1997. By the time she completed "Earth Wind 4" in late 2000, her art work improved dramatically. There are some beautiful pages in the later volumes of this series. I hope you guys enjoyed "Earth Wind" as much as I did. I will be scanning Pale Lilac’s other Sailor Moon doujinshi in the future!

Electro World by LEGO!"Electro World" by LEGO!

I am going to start scanning doujinshi by the circle LEGO!, beginning with "Electro World" There have been tons of requests by fans of Three Lights to scan in doujinshi by this circle, because Nakagawa Waka from LEGO! draws bishounen beautifully. Basically saying, the Three Lights look really hot in all of LEGO!’s pages. LEGO! was actually already a really popular circle with bishounen anime fans, because of published doujinshi work featuring Uta no Prince-sama and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. All of Nakagawa Waka’s work is extremely high-quality and professional, so its no wonder why this circle instantly became a hot commodity with Sailor Moon doujinshi fans. Please enjoy the scans! I will scan in more work by LEGO! in the future. Hopefully Nakagawa Waka will continue to draw Sailor Moon doujinshi. *fingers crossed*

The Best Sailor Moon Doujinshi Post

Tuesday, August 27th, 2013

I consider myself a pretty hardcore Sailor Moon doujinshi collector. Always on the look-out for amazing new Sailor Moon doujinshi on the market, and buying them up as I go. The reason why I love doujinshi so much, is because they are always unexpected. The Sailor Moon fandom have some really great story-tellers and artists. Some are so incredibly good, they can make you forget that you are reading a doujinshi. I have been lucky to come across quite a few of those delicately written fan comics. These three I have scanned below, are definitely among my favorites. If there are any Sailor Moon doujinshi that you should bug your favorite scanlators to take on, these would be it.

Yume no Tsuzuki by Tsuki Kioku"Yume no Tsuzuki" by Tsuki Kioku

"Yume no Tsuzuki" by the talented Hana Ame (from the circle Tsuki Kioku) was the doujinshi that turned me into a Helios x Chibi-Usa fan. The art work in the doujinshi is drop-dead gorgeous, and is definitely reminiscent of the Sailor Moon anime style. The storyline takes place in the future of Crystal Tokyo, when Chibi-Usa is a teenager and is the new generation of Sailor Moon. She is the leader of the Sailor Quartet. The doujinshi tells how a teenage Chibi-Usa is re-introduced to Helios again. Its very romantic, and brings up some pretty interesting points that can definitely happen in the real Sailor Moon storyline. What fascinated me about this doujinshi, was that Hana Ame did such a wonderful job of creating this future generation. The world she created felt REAL. Adding on Hana Ame’s beautiful art style, this doujinshi is simply amazing.

Lady in the Tower by Studio Canopus"Lady in the Tower" by Studio Canopus

If you are new to collecting Sailor Moon doujinshi, many collectors would immediately recommend anything by the talented circle Studio Canopus, headed by artist Yamada Mario. Doujinshi by Studio Canopus are mostly about the relationship between Tenoh Haruka and Kaioh Michiru. Yamada Mario is very good at narrating the emotions and circumstances surrounding Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune’s destiny. His art work for the doujinshi he publishes are also extremely beautiful and detailed, which make items from Studio Canopus very sought after. One of the most popular and well known doujinshi in the Sailor Moon community is "Lady in the Tower" (also known as "Tou no Naka no Himegimi"). This fan comic is told from Elza Gray’s point of view, about the time when Michiru first meets Haruka. Once again, this is a doujinshi that is told so well, that it feels REAL; Like it could really be part of the Sailor Moon storyline. The beautiful art work definitely helps wrap your mind around the setting. This is a must-read for Sailor Moon doujinshi fans. "Lady in the Tower" was released in several different volumes, so I scanned in all the different covers for this doujinshi. The cover art work are all stunning.

Earth Wind 2 by Pale Lilac"Earth Wind 2" by Pale Lilac

This last one I’m posting up, is a doujinshi by the production assistant of the goddess herself, Takeuchi Naoko. Her name is Ohmori Madoka and she publishes her doujinshi under the circle name Pale Lilac. Ohmori Madoka’s art work is extremely similar to Takeuchi Naoko’s manga style. Because of this, doujinshi by Pale Lilac are highly sought after, and are often expensive because they are rare. Pale Lilac published a set of short doujinshi titled "Earth Wind," consisting of four volumes. The first volume can often be found in stores like Mandarake, but the other three books are very hard to find. I scanned in "Earth Wind 2" by Pale Lilac. The art work inside is beautiful and very nostalgic because it is so similar to Takeuchi Naoko’s style. The storyline is a bit silly but in a good way. And of course, there are the sexy stuff too. *cough* I think fans will overall enjoy this doujinshi. Some of the characters are written to be very “out of character,” but it makes the doujinshi funny in a cute way.

Happy Birthday Hino Rei

Wednesday, April 17th, 2013

Official Sailor Mars Fan BookThis year for Sailor Mars’ birthday, I scanned in her special character guide, Nakayoshi Official Hino Rei Fan Book, published by Kodansha in 1996. The book is filled with lovely and rare images of the Fire Senshi, and provides an extensive look into her character. It covers the adventures of Sailor Mars from Season One through Season Three of Sailor Moon.

I find it particularly amusing that the book mentions the "love triangle" between Hino Rei, Kumada Yuuichirou, and Tenoh Haruka. The special images the periodical includes of Hino Rei/Sailor Mars are especially beautiful, and I took the time to connect the two-page spreads, so people can use those images as wallpapers. There is also an interview with Hino Rei’s voice actress, Tomizawa Michie, at the very end. This book is a "must-have" for all Sailor Mars fans. I scanned in the original Japanese version of the book, but it was also published in English by the company TokyoPop. Sold on Ebay and Amazon.

Happy Birthday Book Vol. 1PALE LILAC & EASY

Included in this Sailor Mars update, is a short doujinshi by Pale Lilac and Easy, titled Happy Birthday Rei Hino (B.D. Book Vol. 1). Pale Lilac (Ohmori Madoka) and Easy (Izumi Shou) are relatively famous among Sailor Moon doujinshi collectors. Ohmori Madoka and Izumi Shou were both production assistants of Takeuchi Naoko, when she was working on the Sailor Moon manga. In fact, both ladies were featured in the Sailor Moon Infinity Artbook (Look here and here).

Pale Lilac is the more popular choice among the two ladies, because her art style is very similar to Takeuchi Naoko’s. Many fans consider doujinshi by Pale Lilac to be an extension of the original Sailor Moon manga due to the physical similarities. Unfortunately, Pale Lilac’s works are very hard to find and for this reason, Sailor Moon doujinshi by her are considered prized items for even non-doujinshi collectors.

Happy birthday to Hino Rei and please enjoy the scans, everyone!
